#2000-2  Kit, Atmosphere in Crisis.
This kit presents information relating to the characteristics of the air, the atmosphere, and how these are affected by pollutants.  It demonstrates the principles of absorption and the effects of air pollution on such common things as plants and metals.  Air pollutants are created and treated, thus enabling the students to see and understand the causes and effects of air pollution and the necessity and means for control.   Classroom activities include:  temperature inversion, the creation of two air pollutants, treatments of air pollutants, and the effects of air pollution.  All apparatus, chemicals, ten 35mm slides, seven overhead transparency masters, and teacher's manual are supplied to perform various experiments.

#2000-5  Kit, Consumer Chemistry.
This program emphasizes health and safety considerations.  Students will examine common products that have become controversial issues, such as soaps and detergents, hard water and water softening, bleaching and stain removal, chemicals in our foods, pesticides in fertilizers and common drugs and cosmetics.  In addition to a 50 frame filmstrip and 12 overhead transparency masters, you get all the apparatus and chemicals necessary to perform nine different classroom activities.  Study wash day chemistry; the science of fabric color; the kitchen sink; digesting; baking; stomach acid; photography; vitamin C analysis and food additives to retard spoilage.

#2000-7  Kit, Death of a River.
This kit offers a complete water pollution unit which covers clean water and the prevention and treatment of pollution.  A combination of 11-35mm slides, six reproducible transparency masters, instructor's manual and laboratory equipment leads students carefully through water quality experiments involving dissolved oxygen, the bacteria related to dissolve oxygen, water clarity, and the treatment of organic wastes.

#2000-9  Kit, Environmental Pollution.
A classroom size kit for the investigation of health and economic consequences of environmental pollution.  The lecture materials contain discussions of chemical composition of fresh air and water, pollutants of the environment, consequences of environmental pollution and treatment and control of pollution.  Classroom activities are separated into two categories:  air and water pollution.  Fifteen activities are performed; five dealing with air pollution and ten dealing with water pollution.  The water pollution activities include:  Determination of dissolved oxygen, addition of oxygen by aeration and by photosynthesis, removal of oxygen by heating, by respiration and by chemical activity, relationship between bacteria and oxygen, sewage and plant nutrients, treatment of chemical wastes, mine acid pollutants and their effects on fish.  The air pollution activities include: temperature inversion, the creation of two air pollutants, the effect of air pollution on various materials, and treatments for air pollution.  Also includes 19 transparency masters, 47-35mm slides and manual.

#2000-10  Kit, Environmental Student Test Lab.
Ten different tests of the air and water around us can be performed with the Environmental Student Test Lab.  Your students will be interested to know that their experiments duplicate those actually carried out by state and federal agencies.  Five water tests look for dissolved oxygen, hardness, chloride, phosphate, and pH.  The kit also gives you four air tests for suspended particles, smoke density, concentration of chemicals, and carbon dioxide.  These test are easy to do and produce clear, visible results.  Many of the tests give or estimate quantitive results.  The kit includes 8 test chemicals, test equipment, two charts, and a reproducible laboratory manual.   This kit is an excellent introduction to air and water evaluation.

#2000-12  Kit, Food Chemistry.
The purpose of this kit is to examine in depth the chemical nature of many familiar food products.  Among the experiments that are in the 61-page teacher's manual and that can be performed with the kit are:  The presence of sugars, starches, fats and proteins; fruit discoloration; the chemical composition of milk; the presence of iodine in salt; calcium propionate in bread; and the qualitative test for vitamin C and sulfur dioxide in fruit.

#2000-14  Kit, Kitchen Chemistry.
The purpose of this kit is to discuss and illustrate the properties of solutions and the fundamentals of organic chemistry as they relate to candy making.  Such terms as supersaturated, tetrahedrons, carbohydrates, crystallization, activation energy, and many others will be taught in an enjoyable, educational way.  The Kitchen Chemistry Kit includes seven 35mm slides, teacher's manual, chemicals and apparatus necessary to perform a series of nine experiments which are designed to further enhance the learning experience.

#2000-15 Kit, Light Pollution.
Illumination beyond the needs of sight produces light pollution.  Excess light can injure the eye.  This excellent 35mm slide presentation allows students to examine light and the anatomy of the eye; light pollution caused by glare, fluorescence, and reflection; and industrial research into light pollution.  Some of the topics illustrated and described include:  The anatomy of the eye, the nature of light and the effects of glare, infrared and ultraviolet radiation.  Of particular interest in this kit are the structures of the eye and the mechanisms of sight.  Each kit contains 18-35mm slides, a plastic mounted cross section of the eye, and an excellent teachers manual with test questions and suggested student projects.

#2000-19  Kit, Noise Pollution.
Students will use this kit to hear how it would sound to have different ranges of hearing loss, diagram and label ear anatomy, define and measure noise pollution.  Some of the optics illustrated and described in the kit include:  Anatomy of the ear, transmission of sound; measurement of noise; effect of noise on the individual and the community and methods of controlling noise pollution.  The kit includes 14-35mm slides, a special prepared audio cassette tape which allows students to experience a variety of simulated hearing losses and a detailed teacher's manual.

#2000-22  Kit, Pulmonary Module.
The kit, through models and 35mm slides, clearly explains the mechanical operation and the function of the lungs.  This sets the stage for describing the effects of smoking-specifically with respect to chronic bronchitis, emphysema, lung cancer and coronary artery disease.  Laboratory demonstrations enforce some of the mechanical concepts introduced in the teacher's manual giving the student a better appreciation of the consequences of smoking.  The set includes excellent teacher's manual, 11-35mm slides, a cross section of a lung, microscope slides, a smoking apparatus and apparatus for demonstrating lung inflation.

#2000-23  Kit, Solid Waste and Recycling.
This self-contained kit uses a combination of 20-35mm slides, 10 reproducible transparency masters, reference material, and laboratory equipment to give students an understanding of solid waste causes, sources and management, plus case studies on solid waste pollution.  The laboratory manual and equipment allow students to do tests and experiments involving CO2 cycle in nature, composting, fuel for wastes and paper recycling.  This kit also contains seven testing chemicals and all of the necessary equipment for the tests.
